Golf is simultaneously an enjoyable and frustrating sport to learn. One of the most difficult parts of becoming a skilled golfer is working on your swing. This is something that many think cannot actually be perfected, but that improving your swing is an ongoing learning practice. You may have already spent a great deal of time practicing and find that you're continually going slightly off the mark. However, when you do manage to hit the perfect drive, it's an intensely rewarding experience. Of course, when this happens you probably wonder why you can't have that great of a swing all the time.
Your Golf Swing is what makes your drives successful or less than successful and like any sport, there is some quantifiable technique involved in getting your swing where you want it to be - however, what you have to do is to find a swing which works perfectly for you. It's easier said than done, but if you put the tips which follow into action, you may find yourself with a golf swing technique which can get your game to the next level.
The 3 Parts Of The Swing
There are three parts to any golf swing: the backswing, the downswing and the follow through and all of these must flow together and be fluid motions in themselves. Perfecting your technique requires working through each of these three parts and many players find it more useful to work on each part of their swing independently.
The Stance
If you're not an advanced player, then you should probably stick with the same stance every time. Your feet should be slightly apart, lined up with your shoulders, knees bent slightly; just enough to help you to keep balanced as you shift your weight during the backswing.
The Grip
Just like your stance, you'll want to use the same kind of grip consistently. If you're inexperienced as a golfer or are having trouble with making the scores you'd like, then you should use a simple interlock grip style. Your grip has to be tight enough to retain control over your club while still giving you enough flexibility to make your swing easily.
Practice As You Play
Remember that when you're playing a round of golf that this is also a time that you can use to get some practice in. Although you should not repeatedly try out your techniques when it would get in the way of other players, take every opportunity to practice your golf swing technique.
Get In Better Shape
Being in good shape and being strong and flexible is a good thing for its own sake, but it will also help you to improve your game. Having more strength and flexibility means you'll be able to hit those long drives while having better control over your shots and better balance.
There are a lot of different things which go into developing a winning golf swing technique; and the tips presented here are by no means all of them. The more you learn and the more you practice, the better you game will be.
